We’re super excited to be featured on the sustainable fashion blog HeartSleeves by Ariel Azoff! She’s written some really nice things about Kakaw Designs, and combined it all with some adorably silly photos of her and her friends with our Macaw Clutch. We’re loving these shots! Take a look below, and to celebrate our Macaw Clutch being our most popular item this past December, we’re including a Macaw Luggage Tag with every purchase of the clutch in January! The tags are part of our efforts to use every little piece of the gorgeous textiles – they are made with the leftover scraps from production, and are great for the stylish globe trotter 🙂
Without further ado… the photos on HeartSleeves! Make sure to check out the full post for all the goodness.
This is the Macaw Clutch, a product of Kakaw Designs. Kakaw is the brainchild of Mari Gray, who was born in Guatemala but raised in the US and Japan. She moved back to Guatemala as a twenty-something to teach and soon found herself designing leather boots on the side (you know, as one does when one gets bored). Turns out, she’s pretty damn good at it.
Mari was also drawn to the idea of social enterprise to economically empower local women. From these creative and advocacy roots, Kakaw was founded 2 years ago and now has several beautiful collectionsout.
